Heat pumps
How often should a heat pump be serviced?
Total Energy Solutions · updated July 2026 · 3 min read
Like any heating system, a heat pump runs best with regular maintenance. The recommended interval is once a year, and there are good reasons not to skip it.
The yearly rule
An annual service keeps efficiency high and running costs low, and is usually a condition of keeping your manufacturer warranty valid.
What gets checked
We check refrigerant pressures, water flow, filters, electrical connections and controls, and clean the unit. Small adjustments here make a real difference to performance.
Grant and warranty compliance
If your heat pump was grant-funded, regular servicing helps keep you compliant. We send a reminder each year so it is one less thing to track.
